Description of Diddy Kong Racing Nintendo 64 ROM
Diddy Kong Racing is a game developed and published by Rare for Nintendo 64 devices. The main concept of the game, as mentioned in the name, revolves around fascinating car racing on Timber Island. Diddy Kong seems to be a familiar character as he is Donkey Kong’s sidekick, having appeared together several times in the Donkey Kong series. The game belongs to the Kart Racing genre, often referred to for games like the Mario Kart series.
The story begins when a witch named Wizpig appears after Diddy Kong and his friends want to organize a car race. He wanted to get all the traces of Timber Island, so he somehow turned the four heroes who were the island’s defenders into his minions. To defeat Wizpig and keep the peace on the island, Diddy Kong must defeat Wizpig in races. Not only by car, but also by seaplane and even by plane. But players must be very careful, one of the most veteran runners on the island, Dumstick the Rooster, was turned into a frog when he ran aground at the hands of Wizpig.
At the beginning of the game, the player will choose for himself a character out of ten. Of these, eight are available initially, and two need to go through the unlocking process. On the track, the player will control exactly one vehicle for all tracks. Meanwhile, the races under water or in the air will have to go through two vehicles, seaplane and airplane, respectively. During the race, balloons and bananas will appear scattered around. Regarding the balloons, each ball will represent different abilities, red to attack, blue to speed up, yellow to defend, green to slow down, while rainbow will shorten the distance between you and the nearest runner.
If you pick up many balls of the same color, each corresponding ability will be enhanced. As for bananas, when collecting ten fruits, the player’s speed will also be increased somewhat. If a player is attacked, two bananas will be deducted from each player. If you defeat Wizpig in Future Fun Land, the player will be transferred to a new mode called Adventure 2. In addition, there are three other game modes:
a deathmatch, chess collect mode and egg collect mode.
